2010
The Norris Center’s Negri Learning Center has become a program in southern California that models excellence in Musical Theatre. Some of the most impressive compliments we have received about our program come from industry people stating they “Forget that they are watching children,” and “This is professional caliber theatre performed by children!” Excellence and Accessiblity is the foundation that Negri’s program has been built on and believes that from great human beings great leaders emerge. Alumni of the Negri Learning Center are attending the best theatre programs in the country including, University of Michigan, NYU, Boston Conservatory, Berkley School Of Music, Stanford, Yale, AMDA, Pacific Conservatory for the Performing Arts, UC Irvine, USC and UCLA. In an effort to stretch our young performers to move to the next level we have created one of the most important programs we have ever done.
You are invited to apply for this summer’s Musical Theatre Boot Camp. The invitation is being extended to those who demonstrate passion both in their approach to theatre and their commitment to training. These intensive two weeks will continue to stretch seasoned performers and set a new bar of excellence and training for less experienced performers. The Musical Theatre Boot Camp Application should be brought to the audition on Thursday, May 27th at 5:00. Every student has different strengths and the program is customized to further develop those strengths and work on those areas that need to be strengthened.
The Musical Theatre Boot Camp is an exciting program designed especially for ages 10 to 17 years. In this two-week intensive we will cover core aspects of the musical theatre process, training in dance, acting and vocal presentation as well as classes that join all disciplines connecting them to a performance. Our time together will culminate in a presentation showcasing the student’s work and growth on the main stage of the Norris Theatre on Sunday, July 18th at 8:00. Our goal is to offer tools that are imperative to any musical theatre process. Students do not have to be proficient in all areas to be accepted to the program.
Participant’s days will begin at 8:30 a.m. and end at 5:00 p.m. Monday through Friday beginning July 5th with a full day dress and tech rehearsal on Sunday, July 18th. There will be an exciting field trip to see a professional production on Saturday, July 10th. The field trip is included in the tuition for the program. The presentation showcasing the student’s work will take place on Sunday, July 18th. Tuition for the program is $550. Financial Aid is available.
Full tuition is $550.00 and is due upon acceptance into Boot Camp which begins on the 5th of July.
Acceptance to this program in no way guarantees casting in any other production or program at the Negri Learning Center.
